We have been working hard in class to prepare for our biography presentations on March 11th. Attached you will find all the names of the historical figures that the students are currently researching. There are a few things that I need your help with: 1. Please make sure that you complete the VIPS process for the district within the next few days. It usually takes 2 - 3 weeks to process, and you will need to be VIPS cleared to attend the Living Museum on March 11th. Link: https://robertspto.org/volunteer/vips-approval/ 2. Please start planning for a costume for your child. They will need to come dressed in their costumes on the day of the Living Museum. Props are welcome. Biography Research List Parents – The entire biography research project will be done in class. We encourage you to talk to your children about their biography projects at home, and to help them come up with a costume for the Living Museum on March 11th.

We hope you all can join us for the International Parade and/or Festival tomorrow! If possible, please have your child dress in traditional clothes from your country of heritage or in Red, White, and Blue. You are welcome to come watch. The parade starts shortly after our morning announcements conclude (7:45 A.M.). We will have an early lunch in our classroom tomorrow before our 12:00 P.M. early dismissal. If you haven’t done so already, please let me know how your child will be going home. The actual festival begins at 3:00 P.M.! We have several children performing throughout the afternoon. The festival is always a wonderful event. I hope you can attend! We have been reviewing addition and subtraction facts to 20. Your child should know these facts quickly. We have been using the 10s facts and doubles to help know the other facts. Please practice these daily. Calling them out in the car or while making dinner or breakfast. Please continue reading to and with your children, and monitor their independent reading. They are trying to increase stamina and fluency, expand vocabulary and develop higher order thinking skills through making inferences, predictions and connections. Next Wednesday is our field trip to the zoo! Please note the following information below: Students – Please bring a disposable sack lunch & water bottle, wear comfortable shoes, and please wear your red Roberts’ t-shirt. Chaperons - Chris Grieves, Cathy Lawrence, and Daniela Dinu - thank you for coming with us! If those times and dates do not work for you, please let me know and we can schedule to meet before or after school. If you have any other questions, please let me know! Thank you! - Cathy ***Early Dismissal on Friday, September 27th at 12:00 PM **
I’m sure you have heard about our Culture of Giving campaign. If you have not seen the letters, signs and emails – then you have probably heard from your child how they want their class to win the donut party and/or a pizza party! The class that has the highest participation rate in each grade wins the donuts. The class that raises the most money overall wins a pizza party. -OR- Classes that raises more than $4000 wins a pizza party. We want to win both! Our class is currently at 43% participation. We would LOVE to reach 100%. We are trailing the leader for the pizza party by $X. -OR- We need to raise $X more to win a pizza party. Did you know that 57% of the funds raised support classrooms and teachers? It has a very direct impact on your child (and me)! I have been sent to numerous IB trainings and curriculum workshops in the last few years because of your generous donations! Thank you!!
